Seven champions have been crowned in the 12 and 12 divisions.
MadFrog 11s N Green went undefeated to win the 11 National title at the 2021 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship in Las Vegas on July 2.
MadFrog (Allen, Texas/North Texas) did not lose a set through nine matches, defeating Dynasty 11 Black 25-11, 25-17 in the final.
Head coach Toa Gaisoa said the team was special because of how young they were.
“Some of them could probably play 11s again, but we’ve got to move them on,” Gaisoa said. “Their journey was really rough. We started off with 10 [players], then we dropped down to eight girls. Eight girls all season, so if one person would get an injury, we’d probably be out. But the girls battled all season, and I’m so proud of them.”
On June 30, five champions were crowned in 15s, including a win by Dynasty 15 Black (Kansas City, Kan./Heart of America) in the Open division.
Dynasty also pushed through the tournament without a loss, but they were pushed to three sets four times, including in the title match. The team defeated A5 15-Bob (Roswell, Ga./Southern Region) 15-25, 25-22, 15-10 in the final.
Head coach Brian Tate said the fact they were challenged by other teams from day one helped them prepare for the championship moment.
“The experience that our kids had really carried us in some tight three-setters,” he said. “We were pushed to the brink a couple times, and our kids responded and came through. Good volleyball’s going to be able to make it. We didn’t need to play perfect; we didn’t need to score five points with one swing. We just needed to be good.”
