
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 22, 2025) – Whitney Dosty and Monique Matthews each scored a combined 30 points over two matches as the U.S. Women’s Sitting Team continued its series of intrasquad exhibitions Saturday at the Boston Volleyball Festival.
Head coach Bill Hamiter continued to adjust his lineups on either side of the net for maximum competition, and both matches finished tied 2-2.
The team plays its last match of the series on Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. EST, and it will be streamed live on the USA Volleyball Facebook page.
Match 1
Dosty led all scorers with 16 points, collecting 10 kills, four aces and two blocks. Playing on the same team, Emma Schieck also scored in double figures, grabbing a match-high six blocks, five kills and three aces for 14 points. Kaleo Kanahele Maclay and Gia Cruz split setting duties, and Bethany Zummo was the libero. Also scoring on the team were:
Nicky Nieves: Eight points (four kills, two blocks, two aces)
Courtney Baker: Seven points (four kills, one block, two aces)
Jessie West: Five points (three kills, two blocks)
Kanahele Maclay: Four points (one kill, one block, two aces)
Cruz: Two points (two blocks)
On the other side of the net, Tia Edwards put it down on the service line with a match-high seven aces. She added four kills and a block for 12 points. Jillian Coffee had six kills, one block and four aces for 11 points. Lexi Patterson led the offense at setter, and Kari Ortiz was the libero. Also scoring on the team were:
Matthews: Nine points (seven kills, two aces)
MaKenzie Franklin: Seven points (four kills, three blocks)
Raelene Elam: Seven points (three kills, two blocks, two aces)
Patterson: Six points (two blocks, four aces)
Kendra Hall: Three points (two kills, one ace)
Match 2
Matthews and Baker were the high scorers on either side of the net in the second match of the day. Baker started all four sets and scored 15 points on five kills, seven blocks and three aces. Her seven blocks tied Coffee (on the other team) for most blocks in the match. Dosty, playing with Baker, had nine kills, three blocks and two aces for 14 points, and Franklin also scored in double figures with 11 points. Patterson and Zummo handled the setting and libero duties. Also scoring on the team were:
Hall: Eight points (three kills, three blocks, two aces)
Nieves: Eight points (four kills, two blocks, two aces)
Elam: Seven points (three kills, one block, three aces)
Patterson: Two kills
Matthews was in top form with 21 points for the opposing team, scoring 14 kills, six blocks and an ace. Coffee added six kills to go with her seven blocks for 13 points, and Edwards had four kills, four blocks and three aces for 11 points. Also scoring on the team were:
West: 10 points (three kills, three blocks, four aces)
Schieck: Six points (two kills, two blocks, two aces)
Kanahele Maclay: Four points (three kills, one ace)
